Evidence that Ukrainians are smarter than they seem (at least smarter than their leaders).

Over the past 3 to 4 years Ukrainian’s have shown a growing distrust of NATO. This article suggests it is based upon a tradition of distrust hammered in over the Soviet period. But if that was the case why would opinions change over the past 3 years?

Could it be that the Ukrainian people distrust an organization that encouraged it to get into a very unwise war with its number one trading partner, and then sent it blankets while not allowing its goods into Europe? Perhaps it is that NATO, the USA, and the EU have proven to be very untrustworthy?

The goal of the “Find a Free Country Project” is to research, explore and find a safe and secure free country outside the USA, that is not too large, has a relatively open immigration policy, has a friendly business climate, has a non-intrusive government committed to freedom, and then move to it.

Sadly, the Ukrainian people are in a horrible position. to the west they have the EUSSR, to the east they have the mafia state of Russia, and at home they have perhaps the most corrupt and/or incompetent politicians in Europe, so the future looks very bleak for Ukraine.

Yes Ukraine does indeed seem in a terrible situation. When people start talking about how Georgia MUST get closer to the EU, USA, and NATO, I just point to the Ukraine.

Unfortunately, in the vast majority of countries the majority of people vote based on emotions, not reason/logic, for example Croatia is today a member of the EU because the politicians here scared the pensioners that they wouldn’t get their pensions if Croatia didn’t join the EU, expect to see the same kind of tactics employed in Georgia if the EU referendum ever comes.

I don’t think I will have to worry about that. Unlike Croatia, Europe does not want Georgia in the EU. They just like to toy with Georgia and play games in order to get Georgia to be a willing pawn in a dangerous game of provocation with Russia.
