Practical vs. Theoretical

I chatted with someone yesterday who said he could not possibly leave the USA as he is in the middle of trying to restart his life after a painful and costly divorce. I responded, “What better time to leave?”

“But what about the language, and the job, and the this and the that? I just can’t leave!”

That may be true. Or not. I don’t know.

I have not spent very much time going into the details of how to find a job, or a business opportunity in my blog posts here. That is because I have not been focused on that. I am more interested in investing, and running my private consulting business that is not dependent upon location. And since I am the only person posting on the blog (this can be remedied — I welcome anyone who would like to make an occasional post — just let me know and I will give you the necessary permissions) the only thing you see here is what I want to post. I don’t know exactly how to fix that since I am what I am.

There are areas in the Forum set aside for these issues, but only two people have been active in the Forum.  Rather hard to have an ongoing dialogue like that. But there is some information.

The idea of this website was to provide a place for people to explore the ideas and get help from others. To think about other possibilities. For some to dream.

Perhaps that is the problem here. When I started this website/project, it was clearly just a dream. So I focused on the philosophical issues about WHY YOU MIGHT WANT TO LEAVE! I ignored all the rest hoping that others would be able to fill in the blanks. Sadly not enough others joined in.

I think we have gone past the dream stage. I know I have. I have already left. I have a wonderful life in the Republic of Georgia. I have made several smart investments that are already paying off. I hope other investments I have made will pay off even more in the future. I have found a life and home that I am proud of. I was unable to say that 4 years ago.

I am also noticing that the constant rejection I received from most Americans who I spoke to about this idea is either becoming more tired and defeated, or entirely absent: “I could never leave this country! I am a Patriot! I will die fighting! more rubbish, etc. etc. etc.”

Now it is more along the lines of, “How could I do that?” in a rather sad, dejected, and defeatist tone.

All I can tell you is that there is a great big world out there, and not everything is as bad as it may seem to you right now. Join in and give it a try. It costs nothing to open your mind. No one is telling you to pack your bags and just leave without a destination. That was never the idea of this project. It was always to help people explore how and where to go together. I gave up. I did just pack my bags and left. I am glad I did. But you don’t have to. Join in, and help each other to find freedom.

About fafc

The goal of the “Find a Free Country Project” is to research, explore and find a safe and secure free country outside the USA, that is not too large, has a relatively open immigration policy, has a friendly business climate, has a non-intrusive government committed to freedom, and then move to it.

In practice much depends on the mindset of the individual and in that area (s)he was born in, for example I don’t at all like the current state and direction of my country, but a man (half-Spanish and half-Croatian and born and raised in Caracas) who moved here from Chavez’s Venezuela thinks that Croatia is Heaven on Earth (which compared to a total socialist basket case like Venezuela it really is), you don’t like the state and the direction of the USA, but I have friends, acquaintances and cousins who moved to the USA and they either love it there or are at least content with their situation (interestingly the ones who love it all live in Florida, while the content ones all live in New York, New Jersey and the northeastern United States).
