The End of Freedom Does Not Mean the End of Choices

statueEarlier in the month the radical leftist lesbian mayor of Houston issued subpoenas that required local pastors to hand over transcripts of their sermons, particularly those that had anything to do with the mayor herself, gay rights, gay marriage, transgender issues, or a recent city ordinance allowing men to enter female bathrooms if they felt like they were women at the moment.

It should be obvious that the mayor had no interest in obtaining these sermons. Most of the churches involved recorded their sermons and posted them on the internet for public review. The mayor simply wanted to intimidate the pastors from talking about these issues. Otherwise they risk losing their classification as a charity. You see it is ok for leftist pastors to discuss their attitudes but not conservative pastors.

I think it is quite obvious that America is no longer a free country. The tyranny may not be as brutal as elsewhere; indeed the shackles are soft and comfortable. But Americans are no longer free as they once were.

I often hear Conservatives talk about the need to defend our freedoms. Sadly the time to defend our freedoms has passed, and we have done nothing. Our government is thoroughly corrupt and committed to leftist control of the country. Our education system is committed to leftist indoctrination not teaching. Our media is focused on leftist propaganda not news or entertainment. Our businesses are dependent upon government handouts as much as fearful of government interference. And the people are more interested in Reality TV than in reality. It is too late to defend what has already been lost.

Although America has lost its freedom, Conservative Americans still have choices to make:

  • Fight to restore those freedoms we have lost. The fight doesn’t need to be violent but it does need to be serious. It may require structural and constitutional reforms to restore the freedoms that have been lost over a long period of time.
  • Move to remove the current administration and replace it with a more equitable regime; but without any structural or constitutional changes.
  • Do nothing, and hope for the best.
  • Leave the country and try to find a safer more free place to live; perhaps even establish the American Dream elsewhere.

Clearly the easiest thing is to do nothing, and the hardest thing the first choice. The most pointless would seem to be the second choice, and the most promising would be the last choice, at least to me. Restoring the lost freedoms of the United States of America would require a national commitment that seems very unlikely at this point; at least I have seen no evidence of any serious movement to dramatically reverse the leftist transformation of the country (feel free to provide me with evidence to the contrary). Removing the current regime for another more to our liking seems pointless. Although the Obama administration is clearly corrupt and ideologically committed to leftist transformation, there is more wrong with America than just one man or one administration. Replacing Democrats with Republicans would at best slow the decline, not reverse the situation.

It seems clear that there are only two worthwhile options: work to restore our lost freedoms here, or go elsewhere and make a fresh start. However, I believe the more likely choice of most Americans will be to do nothing or simply “vote the rascals” out so we can get a new set of Republican rascals. Count me out. I am leaving.

About fafc

The goal of the “Find a Free Country Project” is to research, explore and find a safe and secure free country outside the USA, that is not too large, has a relatively open immigration policy, has a friendly business climate, has a non-intrusive government committed to freedom, and then move to it.

I get how you feel, I too am tired of waiting for things to change for the better in my country, so since I don’t have any intention of playing the role of Don Quixote, the only option I see is to leave the country.
