The Republic is Dead

Supreme Court strikes down bans on same-sex marriage

I am not too worried about gay marriage, but the idea that the feds through any aspect of the government can force states to enact and honor gay marriage laws is just beyond me. The Constitution is dead. It means absolutely nothing. Even if you support the outcome of this ruling, you should be very concerned. The Constitution was designed to keep this from happening without a Constitutional amendment. Between this ruling, and yesterday’s SCOTUSCare ruling, we are no longer living in a Constitutional Republic (frankly, I think that has been the case for quite some time, but these two cases make it very clear and obvious to anyone — the Constitution is dead).

And what will “patriots” do now? Nothing useful. They will complain, post nasty comments on social media, go home after work, sit down and watch TV. The Republic is indeed dead, and it has been for quite some time. This is just the obituary.

About fafc

The goal of the “Find a Free Country Project” is to research, explore and find a safe and secure free country outside the USA, that is not too large, has a relatively open immigration policy, has a friendly business climate, has a non-intrusive government committed to freedom, and then move to it.

Well, one thing that is dead for sure is the rule of law in America, it’s pathetic how leftist judges can pass judgments that are obviously unconstitutional and no one does anything about it.

    • fafc says:

Next will be the 2nd Amendment.

      • Croatian Capitalist says:

Probably, and if Americans let that pass, it will be the end of America for sure.

Even though this happened in America, it is still a good example of why I want the EU to fall apart, just like this obviously unconstitutional verdict was forced on those states that don’t want it by the leftist judges in Washington, the leftist bureaucrats in Bruxelles also want to force their idiocy on the smart(er) EU countries.

I concur with your conclusion. Welcome to my world. Reality. I can attest that it takes a long time and a lot of serious contemplation to outgrow the sense of patriotism that was instilled in most of my generation; but it can be done.

You are intent on finding a free country. Is there such a thing? Aren’t freedom and government antithetical concepts? Ask yourself, “What exactly is a country, and why would a truly free individual ever desire or need such a thing?” Is it the real estate within an arbitrary political border? Is it the people living within same? Is it a culture? Is it just a political idea? Is it the government claiming dominion over everyone claiming to be part of it?

I live on the edge of a small town in rural America and no longer think of those living in the crumbling metropolises as my countrymen. I have far more in common with my simple neighbors of predominantly Mexican heritage, than I ever did with the Progressive ghetto dwellers in NYC, LA, or Baltimore. They don’t try to tell me how to live my life, and I leave them alone to live theirs as they choose.

I could care less how the citizens of NYC, et al, choose to govern themselves, as long as they don’t come out here and try to govern me. They can marry their pet goats for all I care; just don’t expect me to celebrate the event or declare my approval of a lifestyle I am somehow hardwired to find rather repulsive. Yet, if they are thousands of miles away, why should I care just because some political entity claims dominion over all of us within arbitrary lines on a map?

I undoubtedly have mentioned it before; but I really commend you to the book “How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World,” by Harry Browne. Especially the chapters on the ‘Government Trap’ and the ‘Utopia Trap.’ It is now available in Kindle format at Amazon. I have reread it at least once a year since 1979, just to keep myself grounded and out of such mental traps. I suspect that if you were to read it, you might soon be living as free a life as I have, which I am sure has been more so than at least 95% of the world’s inhabitants. ◄Dave►

Dave, we all have decisions to make on how to live our lives. I like to consider myself a stoic in that I try to enjoy the things that I have versus constantly longing for those things I do not have. I also try to accept things as they really are rather than pretending they are something else. I am glad you have found yourself a bit of peace. If I was going to stay in the USA I suppose that is where I would find myself; in some rural setting away from corruption and foolishness. I hope to find peace elsewhere. I do not trust in the idyllic setting you describe. Yes you have evaded the corrupt and tyrannical grasp of modern American life, but I fear you have not escaped it. When the system collapses, which it will by design, you and those like you will become a target much like the Kulacks of of the Soviet Union. I understand that to find peace one must begin with yourself, but how can you be at peace in a country that is constantly attacking you and requires your constant and unbending conformism? No, I hope to find some peace for myself, and some safety for my family, and I think I will have a better chance if I look elsewhere than within the borders of the decaying carcass of a once thriving Constitutional Republic that is now the USSA.

Something just crossed my mind today, all of these bad things happening aren’t bad just on their own, another problem is that as time goes on there will be less and less people people who actually remember a time when their country was sane, so more and more people will think that the bad societal manifestations are “normal”, since they won’t remember a time when things were any different, for example I was just thinking today when was the last time things in Croatia were truly normal in terms of demography, economy, culture, etc., and answer is when we were a part of Austria-Hungary (which collapsed at the end of World War I), so the only people who even remotely remember a time when this was a truly normal country are a few still living 105+ year old people.

    • fafc says:

I think that is the goal. To destroy the past norms and create a new normal that our ancestors would not even recognize. And as I suggested, American “patriots” have indeed done nothing after 2 years. Yes they did cast an opposition vote against Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump got elected, but that is just more evidence of the death of the Republic. Americans were not this passive. They were sovereign citizens not subjects. Modern Americans can only work themselves up to being surly subjects at times. Clearly not sovereigns.

      • Croatian Capitalist says:

Yes, apart from the people in the V4 countries, I don’t see any other opposition (to what is happening to the Western World) worth mentioning.

Another problem apart from that there won’t be any people around who remember living in a sane society is that people won’t have anywhere (at least not legally) to learn from what society truly was like before the insanity started, remember the “liberals” trying to remove “offensive” words from Huckelberry Finn a few years ago? If they achieve total victory, they will remove anything which deem “offensive (which in this case basically means the truth)” from the history books too , in any case, if the sane people in the USA, UK, etc. don’t do something soon (soon as in the next few decades), I think that the future of those territories will be very dark.

The EU just can’t seem to stop meddling in the internal affairs of it’s member states.

If this garbage actually passes, then I will add the Czech Republic to my list of places to avoid.

    • fafc says:

This summer I traveled through Czechia and Poland, and I was shocked how successfully the gay movement had spread. Every other young person was carrying rainbow flags, etc. It is a poison that will destroy these countries.

      • Croatian Capitalist says:

Yes, if people in a country don’t even understand basic biology, or what marriage is, then that country has no future.

        • fafc says:

I think part of the problem with Eastern Europe is something I normally reject out of hand: low self-esteem. Eastern Europe has not had a lot to be proud of since the 1940s. They have been beaten and subjugated by one enemy or another, and were helpless. As such they either look East, which is not a historically pleasing place to look, or West, which traditionally was the source of inspiration and progress but which is now quite the opposite. Only in Hungary do the people look to themselves.

          • Croatian Capitalist says:

Some Eastern European nations definitely have this problem, which is an even more serious problem now that the West is in the state it is in, since things imported from the modern West are mostly garbage.

Polish court rules against man who wouldn’t serve LGBT group: https://www.lillooetnews.net/polish-court-rules-against-man-who-wouldn-t-serve-lgbt-group-1.23336893

The more time passes, the more I think that the entire West should be abandoned.

    • fafc says:

It does seem that way. In Texas people are very smug and condescending about how poorly California is doing and how good Texas is doing. However, I point out to them that Texas is not doing better because we are ahead of California, but because we are 20 years behind. If people do not take the bull by the horns, we will soon be like California in all its misery. I think the same thing can be said of Eastern Europe, only more so. The young of Eastern Europe all look to their Western neighbors for ideological foundations, probably for no other reason than that they drive better cars and wear fancy clothes. And that is building your house on a bad foundation to say the least.

Here is a link to an interesting article, and a good book I have been reading. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/08/why-the-left-is-so-afraid-of-jordan-peterson/567110/?utm_source=fbb

The book in question sounds like a self-help book but it is much much more. The Left is accusing it of being right wing conservative polemic, but it is much less. It is a very thought provoking book.

If the West is going to survive it must recover from this terrible malaise of Leftist cultural indoctrination.

  7. Croatian Capitalist says:

Yes, I too increasingly fear that the V4 is behind the curve, not ahead of it.

I will read it once I have finished my current backlog, thanks.

Yes, if the West is to return to sanity, the stranglehold the leftist loons hold over majority of media, “educational” institutions, etc. must be broken.

    • fafc says:

I would suggest you put that book ahead of the line. The battle we are fighting is a Culture War, and we are losing. If nothing else check out his videos which are less verbose than his writing.

      • Croatian Capitalist says:

I have checked his videos and he seems OK, but the leftist he deals with are beyond obnoxious.

A battle or a war would require 2 or more sides fighting against each other, but I don’t see that in the West, I see leftists fighting to destroy Western Civilization and the so called conservatives doing nothing (as usual).

        • fafc says:

He is succeeding. People are leaving the Leftist, at least the mindless I-Hate-My-Culture type leftist and they are listening to him. I think because he is addressing their emotional needs in a very direct and rational manner without being insulting or rude. He respects their feelings while offering them a dramatically different way of dealing with them. Again, it is working.

  8. Croatian Capitalist says:

Anyway, I have been meaning to ask, since it is likely that “conservatives” will soon have a majority on the Supreme Court, can Obergefell v. Hodges be overturned?

    • fafc says:

Who knows. Words are meaningless. I don’t trust anything that anyone says in Washington DC. This was such a bad ruling, yet I cannot see it being overturned.

      • Croatian Capitalist says:

Well, I hope that at least one major country will overturn this insanity (to show others that it can be done), it’s high time normal people started to push back against the assault on traditional values and sanity in general.

If Westerners don’t overturn the social degeneracy which is destroying the West, then we both know which group will be more than happy to do it for them once they take over the West.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/11/health/south-korea-abortion-ban-ruling-intl/index.html?no-st=1554999855

Even in South Korea the courts decide policy, I really think that when eventually sane people get to write Constitutions again, that they will have to make them idiot-proof, that is that every part will have to be explained in detail as to what it does mean and what it doesn’t mean.

    • fafc says:

That was what the US Constitution was designed to accomplish, but when the idiots take over all the institutions there really is not beating stupid.
