Ukraine crisis: Protesters declare Donetsk ‘republic’

‘Pro-Russian protesters who seized the regional government building in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk are reported to have declared a “people’s republic”.’

Well I think it safe to say that the Ukraine may not be the safe and secure place to settle down. Might want to wait until the dust settles so you can figure out which flag to hang outside.

It looks like things are heating up again in Ukraine, and sadly no matter how things end militarily, I don’t see a bright future in store for Ukraine, if they again fall to Moscow’s rule, it will be bad, if they fall to Bruxelles’ rule, it will again be bad, and even if they are left to their own devices, Ukraine will continue to be a corrupt mafia state for the considerable future, so sad to see a country with such potential be in such a sorry state.

Yeah, the Ukraine is a text book case study in how NOT to run your country. Sad. It could have been a shining example of success. In 1988 it was one of the richest of the Soviet and Warsar Pact nations. Poland was an impoverished basket case compared to the Ukraine.

Yes, it’s obvious that communism ruined the Ukrainians mentally (and caused serious harm in other ways as well, lets not forget that millions of Ukrainians perished in the Soviet genocide called Holodomor), while the Poles managed to keep their sanity in tact throughout the Soviet occupation and despite Soviet attempts to destroy the Polish intelligentsia (this was common tactic wherever the communists came to power, to kill the local intelligentsia, no that nobody could organize serious opposition to the communist scum and their sick ideas).

If the Ukrainians ever do recover from all of this, it will be in the distant future, so for the purposes of this website Ukraine is a lost cause.
